I’ve wanted to go to ZoukOut in Sentosa, Singapore to catch David Guetta spin live, that is, aside from their Avicii, Armin Van Buuren, Bob Sinclair line-up last 2011. Apparently I didn’t have to go there for this reason–since David Guetta was FINALLY here in Manila last night 10.10.12, thanks to SM Mall of Asia Arena and Globe Telecom who made it possible. :)
The event was being promoted as the “biggest dance party Manila will ever experience,” a “magical experience,” so my expectations were set quite high. This is the world’s chart-topping French house & electro DJ they’re talking about. So yeah, I wasn’t disappointed!
Kaz James and DJ Alesso opened and did their sets respectively around 9pm. I was with my DJ friend G-no that night and we were going in and out of the patron section at the ground floor to get free Captain Morgan drinks while they were spinning. (By the way, the Captain Morgan was good stuff–got a little flushed after a few haha!). Meanwhile, there was this Captain Morgan character going around the lobby as well to get those people outside entertained.
With Allan Florendo of SM MOA Arena
Back inside, after Kaz James, DJ Alesso took over the stage and played his tracks Years, Calling (Lose My Mind), and Every Chance We Get We Run. The crowd was already getting warmed up!
Party buttons now on. It was almost midnight and we somehow knew that David Guetta was gonna get on stage anytime soon. We squeezed our way inside the ‘moshpit’ to get closer (we passed by the side). And we were right. Soon enough, the stage dimmed, laser green lights started to come down. This. Is. It. David Guetta, ladies and gentlemen!
The SM MOA Arena turned to a HUGE club and the crowd was just out there partying and getting wild with each hit track being played: Titanium, Laser Light, She Wolf, Raise Your Hands, Sexy B*tch, I’m in Miami Trick, Memories, Wild Ones, Turn Me On, When Love Takes Over, Without You–among others I could remember!
All sorts of people came–from those wearing sandos to suits, clubbing attire to office wear (no dress code apparently!)… From barkadas, to lovers; from bloggers to celebrities and party animals! That was ONE BIG EPIC party. I’m so ecstatic MOA Arena and Globe made this happen!
It was bound to happen. :)
